Het reces zit er weer op. De periode van geen raadsvergaderingen lijkt op vakantie en er zijn genoeg raadsleden en politici die het ook zo invullen. Gelukkig in Oost was er genoeg te doen. Zonder officiële of openbare vergaderingen moet er toch nog het nodige overlegd en bepraat worden. Zeker als je, zoals ik, jezelf waarnemend fractievoorzitter mag noemen. Waarnemer; je bent het niet echt, maar moet het wel echt doen. Een beetje zoals Lodewijk Asscher in zijn periode als waarnemend Burgemeester van Amsterdam. In Parool hebben we kunnen lezen dat hij het achteraf zelf ook niet zo erg leuk vond, maar ja dat vond D66 al vanaf het begin.
Zoals Lodewijk zijn damschreeuwer had, zo had ik als waarnemer ook genoeg omhanden deze reces periode. Fractieoverleg, coalitieoverleg, pingen, smsen, mailen met wethouders; oftewel druk als een klein baasje.
Daarnaast waren er ook andere leuke zaken te doen; ik was op werkbezoek in de Indische Buurt, Transvaalbuurt en onze begraafplaats De Nieuwe Ooster. In alle gevallen hoor en leer je veel; Zo blijkt de Transvaal een Kansenzone; heeft in de IB een coffeeshop een eigen verkeersregelaar in dienst en heeft de Nieuwe Ooster een heus Nationaal Uitvaart Museum getiteld Tot Zo Ver, zeker het bezoek waard.
Vanaf vandaag is het reces dan echt over, vanavond mag ik weer aanschuiven bij een vergadering in ons stadsdeelhuis; maar nog een paar weken mag ik een beetje als Lodewijk zijn, zonder spijt!
