Nu de Provinciale Staten weer begonnen zijn na het zomerreces, begint het weer te kriebelen. Steeds sneller komen de Statenverkiezingen van 2 maart 2011 dichterbij.
Je merkt het aan alle kanten. Ten eerste natuurlijk omdat binnen de eigen partij er allerlei procedures in gang zijn gezet om straks formeel met de verkiezingen mee te kunnen doen. Inmiddels ben ik als lijsttrekker verkozen en is de programmacommissie met de laatste loodjes bezig om een programma op te stellen. Ik heb er alle vertrouwen in dat we straks met een goed programma de verkiezingsstrijd aan kunnen gaan.
Maar het is ook voelbaar doordat discussies hier en daar toch wat politieker lijken te worden. Daar bedoel ik mee dat met name de huidige coalitiepartijen (eindelijk) meer voor hun eigen partijbelang lijken te kiezen dan voor het coalitiebelang. Het zal wel met het naderend einde van deze Statenperiode te maken hebben. Echt grote beslissingen lijken er niet meer te gaan vallen in de winter van deze coaliteperiode. Maar met de onderwerpen waar wel nog ‘gescoord’ kan worden, zoals de glaslocaties, de RijnGouweLijn en de Rijnlandroute, proberen partijen dat dan ook alsnog te doen.
Kortom: de najaarskriebels lijken toe te slaan bij met name de coalitiepartijen. Voor een stabiele partij als D66 – die geen last heeft van plotselinge profileringsdrang aan het eind van een Statenperiode om de gunst van de kiezer te winnen – is het amusant om aan te zien. D66 heeft de afgelopen periode telkens haar stinkende best gedaan om dat besluit eruit te krijgen, waar de burger en het bedrijfsleven het best mee gebaat is. Op die vertrouwde voet zullen wij dan ook verder gaan.
