Dit keer geen blog over waar de provincie zich mee bezig houdt, maar over iets totaal anders. Overigens wel een belangrijke reden waarom ik D66-er ben.
Gisteren ontving ik een reactie van een inwoner van Ridderkerk op een ingezonden brief van Joost Roselaers en mij in het Reformatorisch Dagblad van 22 april jl. In onze ingezonden brief gaven wij een reactie op een interview met dominee Klink uit diezelfde krant die doodleuk stelde dat de stelling ‘geloof leidt tot geweld’ wordt gepredikt door aanhangers van D66. Niet alleen is dat onjuist, maar het is ons inziens een poging om D66 af te schilderen als een anti-christpartij. Dat is D66 allerminst. Een aanzienlijk deel van onze leden zijn gelovig en kerkelijk actief, maar vinden als liberaal dat er een duidelijke scheiding dient te zijn tussen kerk en staat.
De ingezonden brief volgt duidelijk de KISS-doctrine: keep it simple stupid. Immers – zo stelde de schrijver – als je niet God dient, dan dien je Satan. Meer smaken zijn er niet. Een helder standpunt, maar volstrekt krankzinnig. Het is naar mijn mening gebaseerd op een ‘eigen waarheid’ van de schrijver. Naar mijn overtuiging is het zeer goed mogelijk om en gelovig te zijn, maar ook politiek actief voor D66. Een belangrijk uitgangspunt van D66 is tolerantie en iemand op zijn kwaliteiten beoordelen, maar niet op zijn/haar achtergrond, kleur of geloof. Daarom ben ik D66-er!
Overigens pleit meneer er ook en marge noge even voor om – conform het oude testament – homo’s te stenigen. Ach ja, dan weten we dat ook weer…
