Woensdag 3 maart was een mooie dag! De gemeenteraadsverkiezingen hebben voor D66 in heel Nederland – maar ook zeker in Zuid-Holland – een topuitslag neergezet. In 3 gemeenten in Zuid-Holland zijn ‘we’ de grootste partij geworden (Delft, Leiden en Rijnwoude) van een totaal van 7 gemeenten in Nederland waar we nu de grootste zijn. Uiteraard had het nog beter gekund qua uitslagen, maar over de hele linie heeft D66 het gewoon bijzonder goed gedaan.
Waar ik persoonlijk erg verheugd over ben is dat D66 in Zuid-Holland in veel meer gemeenten is vertegenwoordigd, dan tot op heden. In raden waar we tot nu toe niets te zoeken hadden, klinkt nu ook het D66-geluid. Denkt u eens aan Middelharnis bijvoorbeeld. Maar ook in raden waar D66 in 2006 buiten de boot viel, zijn we nu weer wel present: Hellevoetsluis, Hillegom en Pijnacker-Nootdorp bijvoorbeeld.
Deze uitslag geeft aan dat D66 terug is en nu weer de basis heeft, waar we alleen zo naar snakten. De kunst is om die basis in de komende jaren te behouden en verder uit te bouwen. Wat mij betreft volgt in Provinciale Staten volgend jaar maart ook een klinkende uitslag voor D66. Aan mij zal het niet liggen om ook in het laatste jaar van deze periode er vol voor te gaan. De eerste stappen door het bestuur van D66 Zuid-Holland zijn ook gezet. Zo zijn er al diverse commissies ingesteld die nodig zijn om tot een programma te komen, en kandidatenlijst te hebben.
