Afgelopen woensdag diende ik een zogeheten Twittermotie in. De motie riep op om een Twitterknop op de site van de provincie te plaatsen, zodat twitterende Statenleden beter gevolgd kunnen worden. Ludieke insteek, om een beetje luchtigheid in een verder serieus debat te brengen. Tot verbazing van mijzelf als indiener – en mijn mede twitterende ondertekenaars – bleek de motie bij deze en gene tot behoorlijke reacties te leiden. Zo reageerde gedeputeerde Van Heijningen (VVD) bijvoorbeeld dat ‘als de Staten het willen er een Twitterknop op de site komt’ maar dat we vooral niet van hem moesten verwachten dat hij er zelf aan mee gaat doen. Nee, stel je voor dat je eens op een inventieve manier de inwoners probeert te bereiken. En dat hij helemaal niet wilde weten dat Statenleden in de Albert Heijn staan of – erger nog – op het toilet zitten. Het is duidelijk dat het college in Zuid-Holland veel waanbeelden heeft van het twittergedrag van Statenleden. Alsof zichzelf serieus nemende mensen elke 5 minuten prive berichten de wereld in slingeren. Zeker D66-ers niet, die over het algemeen zeer gesteld zijn op privacy.
Bij de stemming bleek dat de Twittermotie voor nog nooit voor zoveel onderlinge verdeeldheid had gezorgd, als een andere motie. Op D66 en de PvdD na (beiden eenmansfracties) stemden enkel de VVD unaniem voor. Saillant toch dat hun eigen gedeputeerde het helemaal niks vond. Gelukkig reageerde Commissaris Jan Franssen luchtiger, conform de strekking van de motie: ‘Ik weet niet zo goed wat het is, maar dat komt nog wel’.
