Sinds kort is er een bijna geheel nieuw D66-regiobestuur verkozen en aan de slag gegaan. Wie dat precies zijn is te vinden via de website.
De fractie wenst hen veel succes toe in de uitdaging toe te werken naar een goed verkiezingsresultaat voor D66 Zuid-Holland bij de komende verkiezingen. Ook is het van belang dat het regiobestuur lokale afdelingen, waar mogelijk, ondersteunt om ook bij de komende raadsverkiezingen D66 in de Zuid-Hollandse gemeenten weer terug op de kaart te zetten.
Persoonlijk werd ik gegrepen door de motivatie van onze nieuwe voorzitter, Johan Oldenbug, om zich van harte in te willen zetten voor D66. Getogen in Zuid-Afrika heeft hij, zo vertelde hij, aan den lijve ondervonden dat democratie een breekbaar begrip is. In Nederland wordt de liberaal-democratie en relatieve vrijheid, te weinig gewaardeerd en zijn bepaalde partijen in de landelijke politiek zich er niet van bewust wat voor invloed populisme kan hebben op de staat van de democratie.
Tja, wat heb ik daar nou nog aan toe te voegen?
